Contents and methodology
This online tool enables the core developer to turn
the SIP RFC (3261) into a powerful working tool. The SIP RFC is well written, but naturally the authors
could not fit in that large and detailed document (269 pages!) all the examples
and explanations, which may have greatly assisted developers when going over the
material. In addition the IETF constraint of the need to generate pure text (ASCII) portable documents impaired the distinguished authors from being able to use Footnotes, cross
references, emphasized text and
external links to
other RFCs. This
tool attempts to
correct that situation. It takes the reader through hundreds of elaborating
notes and
about 1500 cross reference links, including
associated Q&A.
The developer can go back and forth between all associated sections with no need to use bookmarks or
printouts...
Intended audience
Technical people who seek a deeper dive into the details of
SIP.
Prerequisites
Minimal SIP knowledge is assumed (We recommend using this tool after completion of the 'SIP Illustrated' course (or an equivalent of it))
Outline
The Contents of the SIP RFC (3261) was kept as
is, with the addition of hundreds of footnotes and thousands of cross references
(and external hyperlinks).
